In ionizing radiation measurement, alpha and beta radioactive source measurement is a very important part of the radioactive activity measurement system. The surface emissivity of the alpha and beta radioactive source can be used as a activity reference source or a test source to measure the scale and calibration of the instrument as well as the measurement of the radioactivity of the environmental samples as a standard of radioactivity measurement. The main measuring device of alpha and beta radioactive plane source is a large area of 2 pi multi wire proportional counter. The multifilament proportional counter is close to 100% detection efficiency for the measurement of alpha and beta radioactive plane sources. It is an absolute measurement method for 2 pi radioactive plane sources.
